The “girls” came to live here by means of a good old trade. I traded tool boxes to a young couple in exchange for 11 hens, chicken coop, and chicken run. Best of all, they provided the labor for the transport.
The three and a half months since the girls arrival has not been without drama. We’ve had 3 Black Bears, and on the first visit the bear got two hens and 7 baby chicks. Since then, the bears have gone away hungry, thanks to modifications made to the coop. I will introduce you to the other hens and babies in future posts.
